Chloromycetin is best taken with a complete glass (8 ounces) of water on an empty stomach (either 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals), unless otherwise directed by your physician.
To clear up your infection completely, keep on using Chloromycetin for those complete span of treatment also if you feel better in a few days.
Should you skip a dose of Chloromycetin, use it once possible. Then apply your doses at equally spaced times as directed by your doctor. Don't use 2 doses at once.

Store Chloromycetin at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Keep away from heat, moisture, and light. Don't store in the bathroom. Retain Chloromycetin outside of the range of children and away from animals.

Do NOT use Chloromycetin if:
you are hypersensitive to any ingredient in Chloromycetin
you have previously had severe unwanted side effects from Chloromycetin
you have a low white or red blood cell count or reduced blood platelets
You hold a minor infection like a cold, influenza, throat infection, or you're using a bacterial infection to be prevented by Chloromycetin
You're taking other medicines which will decrease your bone marrow (eg, cancer chemotherapy); check with your physician or druggist if you are unsure if all of your other medicines might decrease your bone marrow.

Some health conditions may interact with Chloromycetin. Tell your physician or pharmacist if you hold any health conditions, especially if any of these apply to you:
If you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
If you're taking any prescription or non-prescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
In case you are allergic to medicines, foods, or other substances
Bone-marrow issues, liver disease, or kidney problems, when you have anemia.
Some medicines might interact with Chloromycetin. Tell your health care provider in case you are taking any other medications, especially the following:
Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin) because side effects, including risk of hemorrhage, may be increased
Hydantoins (eg, phenytoin) or sulfonylureas (eg, glyburide) because the actions and side effects of these medicines might be increased.
Medicines that may decrease your bone marrow (eg, cancer chemotherapy) because the threat of significant side effects, such as low blood platelet levels and low white blood cell counts, might be increased; check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're uncertain whether any of your medicines may decrease your bone marrow.
