Flomax is used for treating enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia [BPH]). Flomax is an alpha blocker. It works by relaxing muscles in the bladder and prostate, which helps to improve urine flow and decrease symptoms of BPH.

Use Flomax as directed by your physician.
Just take Flomax by mouth 30 minutes after eating the same food each day.
Consume Flomax whole. Don't break, smash, chew, or open capsules before taking.
If you skip a dose of Flomax, take it as as soon as possible. When it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your usual dosing schedule. Do not take more than one dose at the same time. In the event that you miss more than 2 dose of Flomax, contact your doctor for instructions.

Do NOT use Flomax if:
you are allergic to any ingredient in Flomax

You're taking another alpha-blocker (eg, prazosin).

Some medical conditions may interact with Flomax. If you have any health conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you tell your doctor or druggist:
In case you are taking any prescription or non-prescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
In case you have allergies to medications or other materials
In case you have had a severe allergic reaction (eg, severe rash, hives, trouble breathing, dizziness) to any sulfonamide (sulfa) medication, like acetazolamide, celebrex, certain diuretics (eg, hydrochlorothiazide), sulfonylureas (eg, glyburide), probenecid, sulfamethoxazole, valdecoxib, or zonisamide.
In case you have a history of liver or elimination difficulties, or high or low blood pressure, or prostate cancer
if You are going to be having eye surgery.
Some medicines may interact with Flomax. Communicate to your health care provider if you're using any other medicines, particularly any of the following:
Alpha-blockers (eg, prazosin) or phosphodiesterase inhibitors (eg, sildenafil) because symptoms of reduced blood pressure (eg, severe dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting) may happen
Azole antifungals (eg, nizoral), cimetidine, or serotonin-specific reuptake inhibitors (eg, fluoxetine) because they may raise the risk of Flomax's side effects
Coumadin because the risk of unwanted effects may be increased.
This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your doctor if Flomax might interact with several other medications which you take. Check with your doctor before you start, stop, or modify the dosage of any medication.
Important security tips:
Flomax can cause drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, lightheadedness, or fainting. These effects may be worse if you take it along with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Flomax with warning. Do not drive or execute other possible dangerous jobs until you know how you respond to it.
Flomax can cause dizziness, light-headedness, or fainting; alcohol, hot-weather, exercise, or fever might increase these effects. To prevent them, sit-up or stand slowly, especially in the morning. Sit or lie down at the very first sign of any of these results.
Do not drive or perform other possibly dangerous jobs for 12 hrs following your initial dose of Flomax or after any dose increase.
Tell your physician or dentist that you take Flomax before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency treatment, or surgery.
