Unisom can be used for reducing trouble falling asleep and healing occasional sleeplessness. Unisom can be an antihistamine. It operates by depressing the cns (brain) to produce sleepiness.
Use Unisom as instructed by your doctor.
Unisom could be taken with or without food.
Take at least 30 minutes before bed-time to help drift off.
In the event that you skip a dosage of Unisom and you're taking it frequently, take it as soon as possible. If it's nearly time for your following dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing timetable. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Some health conditions may interact with Unisom. Tell your doctor or druggist if you got any health conditions, especially if any of these apply to you:
In case you are pregnant or intending to eventually become pregnant
If you're taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or supplement
When you have allergies to medications, foods, or other substances
For those who have asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic bronchitis, emphysema, lung disease, shortness of breathing, or sleep apnea
if you have obstruction of the stomach, bowel, or urinary tract; trouble urinating; diabetes; ulcers; growth of the prostate; glaucoma; heart problems; high blood pressure; porphyria; or thyroid disorder.
Some medicines may interact with Unisom. Communicate to your doctor in case you are using any other medications, particularly some of the following:
Sodium oxybate (GHB) because an escalation in sleep duration along with a decrease in the capacity to breathe are likely to occur
Furazolidone or MAO inhibitors (eg, phenelzine) because severe side effects, such as high blood pressure and seizures, may happen.

Important safety information:
Unisom can cause drowsiness or dizziness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else which might be dangerous until you understand how you react to Unisom. Using Unisom solely, with certain other medications, or with alcohol may reduce your ability to generate or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks.
Avoid consuming alcohol or taking other drugs that cause drowsiness (eg, sedatives, tranquilizers) while taking Unisom. Unisom may add to the effects of alcohol and other depressants. Request your pharmacist if you've got questions regarding which medicines are depressants.
Alcohol, hot weather, exercise, and fever may increase the chance of dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. To prevent these effects, sit-up or stand slowly, especially in the morning. Also, sit or lay down at the very first hint of dizziness, lightheadedness, or weakness.
Don't become overheated in hot weather or during exercise or other activities because heatstroke may occur.
Unisom comprises doxylamine. Before you start taking any new prescription or over-the-counter medication including one employed in the skin, examine the elements to determine if it also comprises doxylamine. If it does or if you are doubtful, contact your physician or pharmacist.
If insomnia continues for more than 2 months, contact your health care provider.
Use Unisom with caution within seniors because they may be much more sensitive to its effects, especially dizziness, sedation, and lightheadedness upon standing.
