Naproxen sodium, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication, is used to relieve the inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis, osteo-arthritis (the most typical form of arthritis), juvenile arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (spinal arthritis), tendinitis, bursitis, and acute gout; it is also used to alleviate menstrual cramps and other kinds of mild to moderate pain. Naproxen sodium is an NSAID. They do not treat the disorder that causes these symptoms.
Use Naprosyn as directed by your doctor.
Take Naprosyn by mouth. It might be taken with meals if it upsets your stomach. Taking it with foods may not diminish the danger of stomach of bowel problems (eg, bleeding, ulcers). Talk with your physician or druggist if you have constant stomach upset.

you have recently had or may be having bypass heart surgery
You're within the last 3 weeks of pregnancy
Contact your physician or health care provider immediately if any of these apply to you personally.
Some medical conditions may interact with Naproxen sodium. Tell your physician or druggist if you have any health conditions, particularly if any of these apply to you:
If you're pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or are breast feeding
If you're using any prescription or non-prescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
When you are allergic to medicines, foods, or other substances
When you have a history of kidney or liver disorder, diabetes, or stomach or bowel problems (eg, hemorrhage, perforation, ulcers)
In case you have a history of swelling or fluid accumulation, asthma, growths in the nostril (nasal polyps), or mouth inflammation
When you have hypertension, blood disorders, bleeding or clotting problems, heart problems (eg, heart failure), or blood vessel disease, or if you might be in danger for one of these disorders
When you have poor health, dehydration or low fluid volume, or low blood sodium levels, you're on the low salt (sodium) diet, you drink alcohol, or you got a history of alcohol abuse.
Some medicines may interact with Naproxen sodium. Inform your doctor should you be using any other medications, particularly any of the following:
Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin), aspirin, corticosteroids (eg, prednisone), heparin, or selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs) (eg, fluoxetine) because the risk of stomach bleeding may be increased
Probenecid because it might raise the risk of Naproxen sodium's side effects
Cyclosporine, hydantoins (eg, phenytoin), lithium, methotrexate, quinolones (eg, ciprofloxacin), sulfonamides (eg, sulfamethoxazole), or sulfonylureas (eg, glipizide) because the risk of these side effects might be raised by Naprosyn
Angiotensinconverting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors (eg, enalapril), betablockers (eg, propranolol), or diuretics (eg, furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide) because their effectiveness can be decreased by Naproxen.
